Threads of Sumba: IMME x Cindy Cendana & Jessy Kusno Collaboration

Who would have imagined? IMME's first collaboration brought together two remarkable women who have left their mark on the digital landscape, Cindy Cendana and Jessy Kusno. Together, we embarked on a creative journey that fused their unique personalities and refined aesthetics with IMME's signature designs—the Maya Dress and Tamara Dress—captured beautifully amidst the awe-inspiring landscapes of East Sumba.

This project wasn’t just about fashion; it was about storytelling. The collection, inspired by the strength and grace of Sumba’s culture and environment, found its perfect canvas in the raw yet majestic scenery of the island. Every design detail—the flow of the fabric, the structured silhouettes, and the intricate craftsmanship—harmonized effortlessly with the backdrop, creating a narrative that celebrates individuality and heritage.

How Did This Collaboration Happen?

This collaboration emerged organically. At its core, we wanted to exchange ideas and learn from others who inspire us. Cindy and Jessy’s openness to our vision, combined with their exceptional creative input, turned this idea into a reality. Though the process involved some back-and-forth to refine our shared vision, their enthusiasm and commitment made it a seamless and enjoyable experience.

Collaborating with these two extraordinary women was truly inspiring. Their keen eye for detail and sophisticated sense of style elevated the project, while their authenticity made the entire process feel effortless. This partnership showcased the power of multiple voices coming together to craft a unified vision—a vision that highlights the intersection of creativity, culture, and identity.

The Connection Between the Collection and Sumba

The choice of Sumba as the setting wasn’t incidental; it was intentional. Our collection, titled "The Latitude," is a tribute to the balance of strength and grace found in Sumba’s culture and landscapes. The Maya and Tamara Dresses, with their structured elegance and flowing silhouettes, are designed to reflect the island’s contrasting yet harmonious essence—bold and resilient, yet serene and timeless.

Photographing The Latitude in East Sumba felt like bringing the collection back to its roots. The earthy tones of the savannahs, the windswept hills, and the dramatic coastline perfectly complemented the designs, creating a symphony of nature and artistry. This alignment amplified the visual narrative, showcasing how fashion can seamlessly integrate with culture and environment.

Each frame captured in Sumba tells a story—not just of the collection, but of the island’s unspoken beauty and its power to inspire. The Latitude isn’t just a celebration of fashion; it’s a celebration of place, purpose, and perspective.
