From Thought to Fabric: The Designer's Perspective
"SENANDIKA" is a collaborative exploration of self-reflection, joy, and heritage. The pandemic, with its forced stillness, gave us the space to engage in deeper, more meaningful dialogues with ourselves. These moments inspired us to create a collection that captures the layered beauty of those inner conversations—a celebration of individuality expressed through thoughtful design and vibrant artistry.
The name Senandika, meaning "soliloquy" in Indonesian, reflects the heart of this collection. A soliloquy is a dialogue with oneself, an honest and unfiltered expression of thought. We sought to translate this into fashion—pieces that feel organic yet refined, uplifting yet grounded, mirroring the nuanced emotions of self-reflection.
Concept Development
The design process began with the question: How do we capture the textures, emotions, and colors of these moments of introspection?
Colors as Emotional Anchors Our palette was chosen to evoke optimism and renewal. Terracotta hues, sunny yellows, serene greens, and lilac tones create a sense of brightness and joy, a deliberate contrast to the heaviness of the times. These colors are refreshing and radiant, designed to uplift and energize.
Textures that Tell a Story Textures became the language of this collection. Organic gathering, kerut details, and flowing drapes were incorporated to symbolize the layers of thought and emotion. Linen, with its raw, tactile quality, became the foundation. It feels natural, imperfect, and alive—an echo of the honest conversations we have with ourselves.
Heritage Through Batik Honoring tradition was a cornerstone of Senandika. Collaborating with local artisans allowed us to infuse the collection with the timeless beauty of Batik. Each piece carries the soul of Indonesian craftsmanship, blending intricate patterns with modern silhouettes. This partnership celebrates the heritage we hold dear while reimagining it for today’s world.
Silhouettes for Freedom and Joy The silhouettes are effortless yet thoughtful, designed to reflect both comfort and elegance. Flowing kaftans, asymmetric tops, and textured skirts are crafted with versatility in mind, allowing the wearer to move seamlessly between moments of stillness and freedom.
Bringing the Vision to Life: Bali Photoshoot
The photoshoot took place at Villa V, Uluwatu, Bali—a location that perfectly embodies the ethos of "SENANDIKA". The villa’s breathtaking natural beauty and serene ambiance provided the ideal canvas for the collection’s vibrant textures and colors.
With a team of talented creatives, we captured the spirit of Senandika against the rugged cliffs, gentle breezes, and golden light of Bali. Every shot blends the organic, textured beauty of the designs with the raw elegance of the setting, creating a visual story that is both reflective and uplifting.
